On Trying…

In the crying of our trying
We have missed the point of living
Walking in the fear of dying
In the crying of our trying
The mind takes all for its liking
We lose the lesson of giving
In the crying of our trying
We have missed the point of living

Contributed to Form For All with dVerse Poets Pub celebrating the Triolet, a favorite of mine!

  1. I love your repeated lines:
“In the crying of our trying
We have missed the point of living”

    Excellent point.

  2. My thanks to you all for your time and comments, I LOVE this form, it is one of my absolute favorites and I was thrilled to see it in this weeks Form For All. Glad to share my thoughts with you in this great form. ~ Rose

  3. You bend this form to a mantra, Rose–this could stand to be repeated on those long nights when one can’t sleep–i think it would be more soothing and calming than counting sheep, and perhaps even open a few new doors. Lovely triolet.

  4. A wonderful poem using a fascinating form that enhances the depth of your thoughts and emotions. Our fear of death, the inability or desire notnto face it squarely as embodying whonwe are does indeed cut us off from so much of we might become. I found the following lines especially meaningful:

The mind takes all for its liking
We lose the lesson of giving

  5. This is wonderful Rose!
I had been through “the crying of trying” and forgotten living. I can so relate to your words so much!
    Enjoyed reading the triolet.
