Nous

we started at
congruence
and began at
resonance

we watched all
fall with the
sunset as we rose
the lit present

we toggled betwixt
forward and steps
sticking none where
our one ought to be

we stopped
cutting off our
nous to spite
our three

we tuned to
the end of
chime when
sound lets go

our path the
coating of
rime written by
tears let flow

with steps now
together we apart
each finding our co-
beating heart

  1. we stopped
    cutting off our
    nous to spite
our three…ha cool…and you taught me a new word…also like the closure on this rose…together apart we find our co beating heart…wicked cool line that…smiles.

  2. I just love when one “unique” word stays around until others flow from…
The first lines captured me, though:
    “we started at
    congruence
    and began at
    resonance…”

    So physi-cal!
    Thanks for “nous”.
    PEACE!

  3. very cool piece. Love the terms and how you not only fit them in the poem, but how they became a framework of the piece itself, enmeshing all they are into the very fabric of what the piece is. Great read. Thanks

  4. What a treat!!! From the first line the phonetics of words capture total attention which is held tight & compelling the reader to enjoy the poem. The structure is very precise yet so humane “our path the/ coating of/ rime written by/ tears let flow” the end too is precise & painful “with steps now/ together we apart/ each finding our co-/ beating heart”. This takes a pride place in memory. Wonderful read indeed!!

  5. This is really beautiful:

    “with steps now
    together we apart
    each finding our co-
    beating heart”

A lovely poem throughout the verses, but the above stanza really stands out for me.
